Australian National Flag Day is on 3 September 2006. As this is a Sunday, it would be appropriate for schools to conduct a flag-raising ceremony on Friday 1 September to celebrate this day.

Recognition could be given to the symbols of Australia's history represented in the flag by the Commonwealth Star, the Southern Cross and the flag of the United Kingdom.
