Australians Celebrating their Culture
The President of the Association, Mr. Peter Papaemmanouil, encourages all Victorians young and old to wave the Australian National Flag in a public show of national pride and patriotism on Australia Day 2006.
Be part of the official Flag Raising ceremony as John Landy, AC MBE, Governor of Victoria, delivers his final Australia Day Address.
A parade, featuring members of the armed forces and a collection of community groups, will march from the Melbourne Town Hall to Federation Square.
A great day’s entertainment for the entire family, including free activities, entertainment, workshops, and much more will be held at Alexander Gardens.
Play the games of bocce, bowls, hockey, soccer, touch football and athletics. Write your name in calligraphy, enjoy the animal farm, and come fly the Australian National Flag, paint and design, match your skills with Hall’s Tae kwon do, play a game of chess with your friend or the MASTER, walk the rope bridge and scale the climbing wall with the Scouts Association of Australia.
Come and join us at Alexander Gardens and become a part of the Australian Day tradition.
Mr Papaemmanouil said, the Association supports the biggest Australia Day Program ever staged and encourages all Victorians to fly the Australian National Flag on Australia Day and throughout the year, as we draw closer to hosting the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
