William Stevens 1866 – 1928. 
William Stevens was a merchant ship’s officer from Auckland New Zealand at the time of the Australian Federal Flag competition in 1901. He was born in 1866 at Otago New Zealand. He died on 20 March 1928 and is buried at Purwera Cemetery, Auckland New Zealand.
Mr Stevens has left a line-drawing of his flag design and other records of his entry in the Australian Federal Flag Competition of 1900/1901 in the Alexander Turnbull Library New Zealand.
